After researching fitness products I visited the HEST store on Fredericksburg Road recently. I must admit I did this with a bit of apprehension as I am closer to eighty years of age than I am to seventy and find that salespeople have a tendency to treat me (and others my age) as if we are old when actually we have just lived longer.

Joe Hernandez greeted me as I entered the store. He answered my questions and helped evaluate my needs and goals. He provided good information but did not push to make a sale. With this additional information I continued my research on the Internet and returned later with more questions. Again, I tried out the Bowflex Xtreme 2 and decided this was easy to use and would help me stay as strong and healthy as long as possible. A delivery time was set.

I live in a rural area and delivery can be a problem. The people making deliveries often leave much to be desired. The three young men who delivered my Bowflex were very professional. It was necessary to remove a door and I noticed dirty hand prints on it as they were working. As they drove away I went to clean the door and, to my surprise it was spotless! As they assembled the Bowflex they explained how the various parts and pulleys function and how to adjust the attachments to workout safely.

I enjoy time spent with my Bowflex. It is far better and less expensive overall than going to the gym as I have done in the past. However, I want to be certain that I am doing the exercises correctly. A few days ago I was back in the neighborhood and stopped by the store. Joe checked me out and made suggestions which made more sense to me now that I am familiar with the Bowflex. He has been very helpful.

Thanks to Joe Hernandez and the three men who made the delivery this has been a very positive experience. (Sorry, I do not know their names.) You manage a very fine staff.

Just a note to let you know that my husband & I were very impressed when we went to the Hest Fitness Products store off of HWY. North 281 @ your San Antonio location, Saturday July 2nd. A young man by the name of Dave Smith was very attentive to us as soon as we walked in the door. He was not pushy, he was very professional, asked us what we were looking for? He immediately showed us wheat you had available. Explained very thoroughly the exercise machine we were looking for. He was very patient, courteous, good eye contact. We went to your “competition” located on Broadway the evening before. They had a young kid showing us around. His supervisor looked 30 pounds overweight and didn’t want to speak to us. Thank you for the excellent service we received. Both gentlemen working there appeared very professional, like their little uniform with the HEST logo……….even the delivery men were very courteous. They had somewhat of a challenge trying to get the treadmill up to the 2nd floor, but they did fine. (In the past, I’ve had workmen…curse, use obscene language, but they did NOT). They both kept their cool, & were friendly & professional as well.

“The Arc Trainer is installed in my home and is of “spectacular quality” for a home piece. Also, from a runner and elliptical user for 30 I find this piece offers a true muscular and aerobic workout, the best I have experienced at any time.

“I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the excellent customer service that I received from Gilbert Hernandez and Paul Taulton at your Tomball Parkway location. My husband and I went to the store to purchase an exercise bike. Instead of salesmen trying to up-sell us to the highest priced product in the store, we received a consultation that assessed our needs and spending preference and recommendations for bikes that could meet our needs. We were not rushed in any way and Gilbert even found a way to entertain our two children while we contemplated our options.

Gilbert took time with us as we sat on each bike and discussed the importance of comfort for continued usage and explained the differences between each one.
We left the store without making a purchase, but promised to return after further investigation. I called the store within a few days with a lower price for the bike from a competitor. Without hesitation, Paul said that he would meet the price and I could pick up the bike at my convenience.

Both Paul and Gilbert were extremely pleasant and went out of their way to make sure that my husband and I were completely satisfied with our decision and subsequent purchase. We will make our future fitness product purchases from HEST because of the exceptional service we received for Gilbert and Paul. “Anytime an employee does an outstanding job for a company, I take the time to let the company know what a valued employee they have. Today I met one of your employees named Brett Carroll who falls into this category.

He came to service my treadmill which had been broken for some time. The entire time he was working giving me valuable information on how to take care of my treadmill, something BusyBodies never did. He put in a new motor but that still did not solve the problem. He tried calling several places to find the exact fuse that was blown, but he couldn’t find the exact one. He called Tito to call Hebb. They advised him to use a similar one which he drove to purchase. I still have to get some lubricant before I can use my treadmill.

I have had 4 back surgeries since March and had a very rough time. Today I had a good day because of Brett. He was kind, considerate, and gave me 110% to customer satisfaction.

I don’t know if you have bonuses or free dinners, but he deserves recognition! I will always give you all of my business in the future because of his job perfection and his kindness.

I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you of a great experience that I have had with your organization. I am a big believer in passing forward compliments when earned. The actions of some of your employees has certainly warranted acknowledgment.

Monday, I called the store in Frisco, TX requesting assistance with service for my Precor M9.25i. My wife and I have been having considerable trouble with belt slipping and, at times, belt stopping during use. The gentleman answering the first call was very polite and efficient to redirect me to another number. His instructions were to seek either Brett or Tito (forgive my misspelling). At the second number I was informed by another polite individual that Brett was out on calls and Tito would need to return the call. The call was returned promptly, and an appointment was set up for this morning.

Exactly at the scheduled time, Brett Carroll arrived. Not only was he friendly and courteous, but also he demonstrated a genuine level of knowledge about my machine and what might be best options for me. The point is that he actually demonstrated a level of caring for the customer and the customer’s machine; that is unfortunately not the industry standard today. As an added point, I feel that I received value for the cost of the service call.

I wish to congratulate you on the obvious high level of pride that you have shared with your staff. Please express my thanks to your team.

“Just wanted to give you some feedback about your Old Katy Road store. After years of working out at the “Y” I decided to cancel the membership and get a treadmill. A lot of Internet research led me to the Trimline T350 HR and two other machines. After visiting two of your competitors, I went to your Old Katy Road location. My salesman, Gary, was courteous and knowledgeable. I bought a T350 HR and scheduled delivery for a couple of days later. The deliverymen were on time, professional, and did a great job of installing the machine in our second story bedroom (not an easy assignment)

“To Whom It May Concern:
On 11/21/03 I purchased from your Southlake store a FDR-02 Fluid Rower by First Degree Fitness. Unfortunately the unit developed a fault in the tank, due most probably to an unforeseen manufacturing / material fault.

I read all too often of poor After Sales Service however I am very pleased to report that this has most certainly not occurred with Hest Fitness Products.

The problem was reported to the Service Department and the personnel were most helpful and I was assured that the problem would be rectified under a warranty claim.

Brett Carroll promptly serviced the rower, and the faulty tank assembly was replaced. I would like to commend this person’s very strong commitment, thoroughly professional attitude and excellent knowledge of the product he supports.

I have in the past taken every opportunity to promote the clever concept and design of the Fluid Rower and thanks to the exceptional service support experience I have no reservations whatsoever in continuing to promote the advanced design and features of this machine.
